The eNewsletter we’re using for the 2024 campaign says it is coming from the AAUW Tar Heel Branch, which is the statewide virtual branch of North Carolina.
Well, as we say on the About Us page, that branch is the fiscal agent for the Open Up AAUW all-volunteer effort — paying for things like this website, Google workspace, and other infrastructure.
Why? Well, Nancy Shoemaker who co-founded this site in 2010 also co-founded AAUW Tar Heel (NC) and is its 2023-2024 president. When the initial fiscal agent, AAUW Long Valley (ID) decided not to continue — since Marilyn Arp moved away — the Tar Heel board voted to assume the role of fiscal agent for the project.
